In October 2021, the Project Report on the Assessment of Air Quality Improvement and Potential Effects of Diesel Vehicle Exhaust Pollution Treatment by
Spectrum Throwing (PMOP) Technology at the Institute for Geo-Environmental Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGES) showed that:
‘After the treatment of PMOP technology, the average value of smog decreased by more than 78%; the average value of fine particulate matter (PM2.5 )
mass concentration decreased by 66.8%; elemental carbon (EC) decreased by 65%, organic carbon (OC) reduced by 59%; and VOCs reduced by 41.9%.
Nearly 20,000 diesel vehicles after the treatment of the city of Xi'an air PM2.5 and ozone (O3) decreased respectively:
Summer PM2.5 decreased by 2.2% (0.4μg/m3 ) and ozone (O3) decreased by 0.8% (0.9μg/m3 );
In winter, PM2.5 decreased by 2.8 per cent (4.2 μg/m3 ) and ozone (O3) by 5.0 per cent (0.6 μg/m3 ).’
